Why are humans so disgusting?
Why is it that animals are still considered to be property that humans can just throw away or treat any way they want? Didn't anyone learn anything from the Vick situation where dog fighting was concerned/ What about all the people that only have their animals to share their lives with? The handicapped that lead fuller lives because of the animals that they are entrusted with.

Truthfully with all the homeless animals I myself have encountered just since the beginning of the year I am appalled to be considered within the species that allows such deplorable acts to continue. Animals are, as far as I am concerned, a much better example of a species as a whole than any human I myself have encountered.
It would be better to put the animals down than to let them lose on the streets. I am all for mandatory spaying and neutering. I am not a people person any more people are inhumane to animals and those less fortunate and they seem to be getting worse everyday. I am tired of hearing excuse after excuse for the things they do, or don't. No one seems to understand the idea of responsibility anymore.

Debbie- I've been giving this a great deal of thought lately and I know there are so many organizations fighting for animals, but we need more legislation to start preventing this abuse. I'm with you- spaying and neutering should be mandatory and the fines should be stiff if you have are caught with a pet that has not been fixed. Breeders should be licensed and again with stiff fines for breeding a pet without a license. This still won't stop all the abuse that goes on, so the laws for abuse need to be enforced. I was shocked to learn that almost no animal abuse cases are brought to trial in my area. If I were to take a child and kick it and hit it with a stick until it bled I would be in jail faster than I could blink and eye. Yet someone could do that do my dogs or cats with a slap on the hand, if that (except for the part where I would probably beat the crap out of them and I would be the one arrested).
Did you hear the story of the judge that made a woman and her children spend the night in the woods in the cold because they dropped off their mother dog and her puppies in the woods on a cold night and a couple puppies died? He gave them exactly the same sentence that they had given the dogs and wanted to show them first hand what it was like for those dogs. I love that judge.
It's sad that so many have so little respect for life.
