Here's a great story about a lost german shepherd getting reunited with his family, from the Daytona Beach News Journal. Deacon, an 18-month-old shepherd had been missing from his family in Virginia since before Christmas. Happily, after being found wandering in traffic in DeLand, Florida, his microchip led animal rescue officials to locate his owners, 600 miles away!

I started a poem about my dog that recently died:
It was the early summer of Nineteen Ninety-Seven
I was a young blond girl, nearing the end of age ten.
I wanted a puppy to take care of and give my love.
My brother was my pretend puppy for a while.
I had a robe sash “leash” on him and told him to go “ruff, ruff”
Needless to say, this did not cause my mom or my brother to smile.
But I wanted a real live dog so I scanned every daily

Is your pet spayed or neutered? Spaying or neutering your pets is the number one way you can help reduce pet overpopulation that results in the needless euthanization of hundreds of thousands of healthy, loving animals.
Of course, in these difficult economic times, many people have difficulty affording what seems like a needless surgery. However, many organizations and clinics offer low-cost spay/neuter programs to help families with financial difficulties. Here are a couple of sites that may h…

Why is it that animals are still considered to be property that humans can just throw away or treat any way they want? Didn't anyone learn anything from the Vick situation where dog fighting was concerned/ What about all the people that only have their animals to share their lives with? The handicapped that lead fuller lives because of the animals that they are entrusted with.
therapeutic riding which enables children to retain a semblance of their true selves.

Are you glad that your animals cannot sometimes understand what you are saying? What do you tell them to do? Mia is our daughters cat, but our daughter has moved to her own house now, and we now have Mia left with us, and Mia can be a pest, especially at 4 in the morning, so we find ourselves offering to buy her a GPS unit so she can walk to out daughters house without getting lost. (But really we love her)
What do you say to your animals?

When it comes to cat training tips, there is a very important thing to remember, you can not train the same way that you train a dog. Dogs are more 'aims to please "mentality and it is possible to do what you ask them, Cat, on the other hand, does not give up so easily. They are stubborn animals and you will work hard for their love and affection and obedience.
Cats are predators. They like to hide and attack things, do not know they made a mess of your home. They may steal socks, jewelry, pens…

Snowy Mountain Rain: Manger Miracles; Keep on Calling
Eve of Eves: Weather Whether
The snow seemed to come out of nowhere. Flakes as big as pancakes fell from a dark lightless night making what was cold feel even colder, not a sound could be heard except an occasional limb from some far off oak tree or the howl of the winds that blew through with a vengeance. It was the eve of the celebration of the birth of Jesus,, Our Lord and Savior,, no one was coming over,, we had no plans t…

During Thanksgiving, my sister and her family came for a visit. They all met Bailey Jo and fell in love with him. My 12 year old niece showed the most affection toward him. My sister couldn't believe how much he leans into a person. Bailey Jo was so well behaved and I think some day in the future he and I could take a trip to see them at their house. We've been spending our Sunday mornings at the local dog park. I wasn't so sure how he would do at the park. He has done really well. He's so fast…

Television and cinema rules are that no animal will be harmed in the making of a program / film. In a recent reality program a rat was used for food, despite there being sufficient for the contestants and this has now become a court case.
But on another cooking program, a chief went out to a field, and off camera killed a rabbit that was used in a meal. Is there a difference?
Other cooking programs use fish, can we have any more cooking programs?
The TV program about whale wars, whales are ca…

Is This Dog Good With Kids?
I get asked this question a lot. Here is your answer:
Very few dogs dislike kids. What dogs dislike is being sat on, hit, poked,
carried around like a stuffed toy, having their ears and tails pulled, or being
otherwise abused. Would you like these things? Probably not.…

Happy ThanksGiving, Everyone! I know I haven't been here for a while, but life is up and running!!
Yoshe just finished her bubblebath, and is quietly playing. I lost my blackberry yesterday, so I feel like I'm on an Island alone.
She ihas gotten so big! Yoshe is now 7 months old, and knows me like the back of her Paw! we now go walking every morning.
She wakes me up by gently licking my hand non-stop until I wake up. She actually beats the alarm clock!
I will be posting new photos of Yoshe soo…

Over the last few weeks, cases of H1N1 (swine flu) have been documented in a ferret and, most recently, a 13-year-old cat! In both cases, the owners had been sick with flu-like symptoms and it was believed that the infection spread from human to pet. Find out more and how to
reduce your risk of spreading viruses to your pet.

I have a solution to all this debate about
individual health insurance going on in Washington. Buy or give everyone a dog! They do wonders for our health plus the make great
home security systems too. It has been well documented that people who live with pets are happier and healthier. We could empty the dog pounds and solve…

Hi y'all.
I thought I had to share my secret. I found this great dog training e-zine, and had a few doubts at first even about buying it- its only a few dollars, but I went ahead and bought it anyway... and it really works! I am amazed. My oscar is 5 years old and I thought it was impossible to get him out of the habbit of running up to strangers and barking- which is a bit scarey!!
But now he doesn't.. so here is the brilliant e-zine for you all to try if you are having trouble training your do…

I am a cashier in a large grocery/drug chain, and even something like chocolate chip cookies, most anything will melt in the car at least in Tucson, Az. Actually it is illegal to leave animals and children in a hot car, but nonetheless still a horribly bad idea. One could leave water or whatever mediating factor you could use, but they are too precious to put to that risk.
About 20 years ago on 75 degree F day in Tucson, Az, and we went inside a restaurant out of town with some friends, on a nic…
