Optional: Tell us a little about yourself

I am a retired Police Officer / Teacher who has had pets all his life!!!
Though married twice, I'm now living alone - that is, with Molly my cat.

Optional: Tell us a little about your pets (names, ages, breeds):

My cat's name is Molly, and she's a mixed American Short Hair with an interesting coloration.

I call her it "CaliGerIte, because she is part Calico, part Tiger, and the rest is White. Thus, Cali-Ger-Ite...I know, I know you just have to see it to believe it. And females aren't supposed to be able to get the Calico coloration, but there she is...

Although she is about 4-5 years old, she still has the attitude of a kitten. And yes, she has been "fixed". Broken is a better term to me...

It sure didn't calm her down any. There are days when she is so crazy wild that is is all I can do to keep from locking her in the bedroom to maintain some sanity.

Optional: What are your pets' favorite things to do?

She loves to take naps in my lap whenever I'm sitting in my recliner.

And she prefers to sleep on my right shoulder (ow-wish I could talk her out of this). She doesn't show up on me until some time during the night, when I'm so deeply asleep that I don't notice.

Oh, and her most favorite thing to do is chew the covers off of my magazines, so I have to be careful about not leaving them on the floor - or by morning they will be unrecognizable.

Whenever I head towards the bathroom, she zips down the hallway and beats me there - her goal is for me to turn on the sink just a bit so she can drink fresh water...crazy cat...When I'm done, she's done.

Optional: What are their "pet peeves"?

Her food and water MUST be fresh or she won't eat it. She gets dry food, and if it gets TOO dry, she picks it up out of her bowl and deposits it on the kitchen floor.

As to her water, if I don't change it for fresh on a regular basis, she'll just tip it over by stepping on one side until it make a huge puddle on the floor for GUESS WHO to clean up.

Optional: What are their best tricks?

She can get to some of the highest places in the apartment with seemingly no help whatsoever. It's like I want to check her for wings... She made a vertical jump - FROM A COUCH - up onto the top of a SIX FOOT HIGH bookshelf. As I was sitting next to this bookshelf at the time - it did freak me out a bit!! She also able to get up onto the shelf ABOVE the shelf that's over my hanging clothes in my closet. Getting down for her is another matter - I think she just hopes for the best and takes a blind leap, because I've been awakened many times in the middle of the night to see her walking out or the closet a bit dazed.

Optional: How did your pets become part of your family?

I got her from an older friend who's new boyfriend was "alergic". YEAH, RIGHT. We've all heard the "I'm allergic" story before, right?? She was about 9-11 months old when I got her, and thankfully already used to the cat box.

But now, she's MY little girl, And I wouldn't give her up for love nor money.
