I am so excited to introduce my new babies. Pixie and Peanut are full blooded Rateriers. Pixie has the pink nose in true girl fashion and Peanut has the black nose. He was the "chunky monkey" of the group. My 2 year old American Bulldog has taken th…

Optional: Tell us a little about yourself
I am a proud mom of one 8 yr old son who loves animals just as much as me and a loving wife to my wonderful husband. My husband owns a photography studio and I am a fitness instructor. We love the outdoors and vacationing at the beach every chance we get. We are trying to teach our American Bulldog to boogie board, but she is still a little skiddish of the big waves. I volunteer at the local wildlife sanctuary and assist with rescues and taking care of the babies. Growing up, my mother would always rescue stray or injured dogs and raise them on our 5 acre fenced in property. It was nothing to have between 8 to 15 dogs at a time. We had a vet as a neighbor and he taught me a lot about animals and how to take care of their injuries and health problems. So needless to say, I grew up loving animals and treat my pets like family. Although, I don't think my Rateriers have come to the realization that their not actually people.
Optional: Tell us a little about your pets (names, ages, breeds):
We currently have 3 beautiful and completely spoiled dogs. One female American Bulldog named Jasilynn who is going on 2 and two 6 month old Raterier puppies, Pixie and Peanut. Jasilynn loves chew toys, getting wet and muddy, playing catch, and car rides. Pixie is more of a princess. She has an extensive wardrobe with dresses, skirts, sweaters, and jewelry. She refuses to go out in the rain or lay on the floor. She will only sleep on her pillow, the couch, or my bed which she considers to be hers. She stays right behind my heels and follows me everywhere I go. If I'm sitting down, she has to be sitting in my lap or she will whine until she gets her way. Pixie also loves to give kisses and nibble at your ears. Peanut is lazy, a little chunky, and can be grumpy if you try to move him when he's sleeping. He is my husband's baby. My husband always sneaks him table scraps and gives him extra treats. Peanut acts like the alpha male (all 9 pounds of him) and thinks he runs the household. He knows he has trained my husband well into getting what he wants. He's got the whole tilting his head to the side and little angelic puppy eyed look down to perfection.
Optional: What are their "pet peeves"?
Jasilynn hates thunder and lighting. She can't stand bugs either so she tries to eat them.
Pixie gets aggraveted when her brother Peanut tries laying or sitting on top of her like she's his own personal pillow.
Peanut refuses to jump. He won't even jump on the couch like his sister. He will put his 2 front paws up and bark at you no matter where you are in the house until you pick him up and put him up there. Again, he has trained his daddy well!
Optional: What are their best tricks?
Jasilynn can catch anything mid-air.
Pixie thinks she is to good for tricks.
We are still working on Peanut actually lifting his rear end off the ground on his own. I'm telling ya! LAZY
Optional: How did your pets become part of your family?
We rescued Jasilynn from a family who would over breed their 2 American Bulldogs and couldn't afford to properly feed them or bring them to the vet. The puppies were very malnutritioned and underweight and half of them died from Parvo. Jasilynn had Parvo as well, but I was able to save her with antibiotics, recovery powder, vitamin C powder, and small amounts of fluid given to her with a syringe every couple of hours even through the night. I slept on the couch for a week with her in a big rubbermaid bend next to me filled with towels and blue pads for when she would loose her bowels or vomit. I worked as a Home Health (Hospice) Nurse for 5 years and was going to do everything in my power to save her. The vet told me to put her down because she might not make it. My persistence paid off and now almost 2 years later, she's a happy and healthy 85 pd dog.
My son got Pixie and Peanut from Santa Claus. He had asked him for a puppy all year long and put it at the top of his wish list. We even brought the letter for Santa to the post office to make sure he got it in time. We told him he must of been twice as nice and twice as good when he realized Santa had brought him 2 new puppies.
