My guy Sherman loves to lick plastic. He is obsessed!!!! Luckily he doesn't chew or swallow, he just sits and licks, and licks and licks....LOL

Hello! I have three cats (gads): Otis, Wiley and Grover (aka "the boys"). I've read about how to stop the chewing obsession, but the boys haven't done this yet. There's a book called "Outwitting Cats" that details how to get kitties to do what you want....and don't want. I'll look up the solution.

Hey there - I'm going to post the same question here I posed over in the "Pet Questions" group, since that one is just me and Karla at the moment. Here we go:

My Baxter-cat loves chewing on plastic bags -grocery bags, drycleaning bags, department store bags, whatever he can get his teeth on.

I've never been certain whether or not he's just chewing or if he's attempting to eat the plastic. However, knowing that ingesting plastic bags can be quite fatal for a cat, I'd really love to teach him NOT to do it. Obviously we do our best to keep plastic bags out of his reach, but he's got a knack for finding things, so I'd feel better if we could break the plastic-obsession. Has anyone been able to convince their cat to stop chewing/eating things they shouldn't? How?

Welcome, Wendy! I love your pics. You must have a very tolerant cat - I'm fairly certain I would get shredded if I ever attempted to dress my boys. :-)
