With the Fourth of July fireworks just a few days away, I'm sure a lot of us are perparing to deal with our high-anxiety pets. Do you have any tips or tricks that you have found work to keep your dog or cat a little less stressed during fireworks season? Please share!

We live on 20 acres, we have a large July 4th family celebration because we have three birthdays this month and combine it. I guess I am clueless, they have never freaked out? I really had not thought about it, hunters shoot guns off etc maybe they're conditioned to it? They're all out there with us. It's a large show also. One year we caught the field on fire, so all the men got to put a fire out, put a damper on that day, but made a funny story for future years.

Heres a great article too! It's my 1st 4th of July with the boys so I have no idea how they are going to handle it. They aren't afraid of thunder so I'm hoping that music and quite crate time will do the trick. Managing Your Dog's July 4th Fears

My younger cat kind of freaks out every year. By about the third firecracker, he scootches off to the bedroom to hide under the bed or the back corner of the closet. In Seattle, there's a lot of people settiing firecrackers off in the street all weekend long, so he'll stay under the bed for hours. Even when he comes out, he just skitters around the house with his belly on the floor - it's sort of sad how stressed he gets.

Ironically, the ex-feral who spent years being terrified of people is entirely unconcerned by fireworks. Go figure.
